Choreographic Work

Dance Theatre Company of Lilly Velissariou (1989-2000)

History
The “Dance Theatre Company of Lilly Velissariou” was founded in 1989. In this time, the company has performed more than 100 times and collaborated with more than 80 artists. On 1997, the company organized and offered a 3-month seminar for professional dancers. Since 1990 the company’s legal profile is a “non-profit organisation”.

The choreographies that were presented by the particular art group are based on the principles of dance theatre. The philosophy behind the choreographies is that the plays should always have a clear subject and sense of direction. The main work is performed upon the performers of the plays (dancers and actors) called to work with both the motion and the theatrical expression. The music is subtly present behind all forms of movement as much as under silence. The plays start at sentimental peak and come to their fulfilment by the intervention of speech, the artistic appearance, the kinesiology harmony and the musical thrill.

Since 1991 the Ministry of Culture sponsors the Company.

1993 sponsored by Filoskin Company 1995 sponsored by COMPULINK network. 1998 sponsored by Kostopoulos’ Foundation Alpha Bank.
